      Insect-borne diseases

      Insects can transmit diseases such as leishmaniasis and West Nile virus disease.

      Protect yourself against insects.

      Tick-borne diseases

      Ticks can transmit diseases such as Lyme disease.

      There are some areas with tick-borne encephalitis in the northeast of the country mainly Trentino-Alto Adige, Veneto and Friuli-Venezia.

      Altitude sickness

      You may experience altitude sickness in areas above 2500 metres.
